  • Conscientious Objector

    Someone opposed to the war based on moral, ethical or religious beliefs. Some refused military service while others were given non-combat jobs.

  • Corps Tactical Zones (CTZs)

    Four US deployed corps-level headquarters (also adopted by South Vietnam) I Field Force Vietnam, II FFV, III FFV, IV FFV in geographic areas north to south.

  • Dewey Canyon

    Combat action in the A Shau Valley in 1969 designed to cut off North Vietnamese Army supply lines.

  • Kent State

    University in Ohio where 4 students were killed by National Guard troops while protesting the invasion into Cambodia in 1970.

  • Vietnam Veterans Against the War (VVAW)

    Started in 1967, with six Vietnam veterans marching together in a peace demonstration. Today, VVAW continues to fight for peace, justice, and the rights of all veterans.

  • Winter Soldier Investigations

    VVAW sponsored event in 1971 that allowed veterans to testify about war crimes committed by U.S. personnel.
